The Dying Art of Tok Tok Candy

images by Veronica Ng

Came across this old chap selling the now very rarely found “tok tok” candy of my childhood

(shut up with the old man jokes already) and decided to buy a packet at RM5 and take some photos for posterity.

Needless to say the old fella was mighty pleased with our amateur photography attempts and

happily hammed it up for the camera.

Brings back good memories back at my hometown, Muar. I remember the 'tok tok' guy on a bicycle and he used to come around in the evening near my house. Me and my brother used to wait for him to pass by...

Hi, where did you find the tok-tok? I've been told that its really nice and can't event be compared to the commercial one found in sungai wang. I then heard Melacca was still having it but only on weekends.

Thanks, really appreciate it.
